Microsoft Windows 11

The screen, power button, and other LEDs on the printer flash repeatedly after a while in sleep mode.

  • I have tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor software, it found nothing.
  • I have tried the firmware update and it has the latest software.
  • I have unplugged it for days and then plugged it back in and after it goes into sleep mode I return to catch it flashing again.

I can get my printer to work if I plug it back in to get something done, but if I leave it for a while it triggers this issue. I cannot push or hold the power button on it to get it to reset, only unplugging and replugging it back in will fix it temporarily.

I've had this printer for years and it works wonderfully for what I need occasionally to print 5 pages maybe once a month. If I cannot get this solved, it is unlikely I will purchase an HP printer again due to the maze of incompatible issues and questions for me to even get to this point to ask in the community forums.

Hi @dracogiraffa2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are facing issues with the flashing screen. I'd like to help!

Since you mentioned that, all the lights are flashing, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Disconnect and reconnect the product power cord

Follow these steps to disconnect and reconnect the power cord.

Disconnect the power cord from the product.

Wait at least 20 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord back into the product.

Try printing a document.

If these steps resolved the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, see the next step.

Step 2: Service the printer

If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, continue to the Service the printer section at the end of this document.

Service the printer

Service or replace your HP product if the issue persists after completing all the preceding steps.

Go to Contact HP Customer Support to schedule a product repair or replacement. If you are in the Asia Pacific, you will be directed to a local service center in your area.

To confirm your warranty status, go to HP Product Warranty Check. Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty products.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Yes" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping

I let the printer sit overnight again and finally it posted an error screen message. It was blue but still flashing on the other LEDs on the machine. The error is B83C0E74. Hopefully, that will help future people with this issue. I am going to start a search again on what this means.

I doubt I have any warranty to be covered. I've had the printer for years.
