Office Jet Pro 9015
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My OfficeJet Printer Pro 9015 shows the blue screen with error code B305DFF9. Using the workaround suggested across the many other threads of unplugging the power cable, waiting 60 seconds, and then replugging the power cable brings the printer back up. But the error code locks it up again as soon as it tries to go into Power Saver mode, or less than 30 minutes later. I have tried leaving it unplugged for 60 sec, 5 minutes, an hour,  even a few whole days, and it doesn't seem to matter. After it comes up, whether I print anything or not it locks up again.

I bought this machine in the spring of 2020, and it has done this sporadically since it was brand new. However, the last 10 days it has been an absolute constant issue. Basically, I plug the printer in when I want to print something, then it blue screens, and I unplug it until I wish to use it again.

This sounds like a pretty widespread issue across printer models so it's a little surprising that it's been 6 months and there is no permanent firmware fix for whatever the root cause is (I have bought HP laptops and printers for years and have never had such a frustrating issue).

Based on the other threads, it sounds like I need steps for doing a full factory/hard reset that will hopefully address the problem. How can I get those the OfficeJet Printer Pro 9015 ?

Hi @Jeff35460,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are receiving a "B305" error on the printer screen.

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

To restore the printer to the original factory defaults

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).

2. Touch Printer Maintenance.

3. Touch Restore.

4. Touch Restore Factory Defaults. A message appears stating that the factory defaults will be restored.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

So far, so good. I followed the instructions about 7 hours ago, and no Error Codes (or other crashes or anomalies) as of now. It hasn't gone this long without me having to unplug it for a couple of weeks, now, so this appears to be solved! Thanks for responding!

Had the exact same problem. So frustrating. I followed the instructions and reset to factory defaults. I also went into devices on my computer and unchecked "let Windows manage your printer" as my printer seemed to be suddenly be offline. I am now successfully printing - at least for now.

Same issue.  Error code blue screen flashes constantly.  It is necessary to unplug printer to stop the blue screen and then plug it back in to power source to print something.  Has HP posted a workable fix?
