The printer jams every single time I print. When I clear it out, it usually works the second time but first time jams every single time. This happens from the input tray.

Hi @servo75 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Dealing with paper jams can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to resolve the issue. Here's a guide to help you troubleshoot and fix paper jams on your HP OfficeJet 5258 printer:

Check Paper Type and Condition:

  • Ensure that you are using the correct type and size of paper as specified in the printer manual.
  • Make sure the paper is not damaged, wrinkled, or curled.

Inspect the Paper Path:

  • Open the printer cover and inspect the entire paper path for any torn pieces of paper or foreign objects.
  • Check for any obstructions in the input tray, output tray, and other parts of the printer.

Properly Load the Paper:

  • Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the input tray. Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper size snugly.

Clean the Rollers:

  • Over time, paper dust and debris can accumulate on the rollers, leading to jams. Clean the rollers using a lint-free cloth and distilled water. Consult your printer manual for specific instructions.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Windows 10 system. Visit the HP official website to download and install the latest drivers for your OfficeJet 5258.

Adjust Paper Settings:

  • Open the print settings on your computer and make sure the paper type and size settings match the actual paper loaded in the printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for a few minutes. Then, reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on. This can sometimes clear temporary glitches.

Use Supported Paper:

  • Ensure that you are using paper that is supported by the printer. Using incompatible paper can lead to jams.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Firmware updates can address performance issues and improve overall functionality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
