Officejet 6700 Premium - During a duplex printing job, I sometimes receive the following error after successfully printing Side 1 of a page:

"Remove the rear access panel or automatic two-sided printing accessory from the back of the printer and then clear any paper. If required, open the front cover or ink cartridge access door....."

However, when doing so, there are no paper jams anywhere. If I then press "OK", side 1 page is ejected and then it prints side 2 on the next sheet of paper. Then it proceeds to print the rest of the document.

Is there a cleaning procedure that should be done somehow on the duplexer, or ??? Thanks for any help!

I'm sorry that it took me quite some time to go through the steps in the article you provided. Then, prior to performing those steps, I also began getting "Printer Failure" errors quite often (turn off printer, try again, etc.). I was worried that the issues were more severe than just the duplexer.

Finally I was able to use the process you provided. The only rollers that were noticeably dirty were the paper feed rollers in the back of the printer (not in the duplexer). I cleaned these thoroughly, it took some good scrubbing. Also, during my inspection of the cartridge carriage area, I noticed that the clear plastic "ribbon" that the carriage travels on had black debris on it in several places. Being very careful, I also wiped this component clean.

I have now been using  the printer for nearly two weeks without any false paper jams and no "Printer Failure" errors. I'm under the impression that cleaning the paper feed rollers eliminated the false duplexer jam errors and that cleaning the clear plastic ribbon in the carriage area alleviated the printer failure errors.

Anyway, all seems to be good for now. Thanks for your assistance!
