OfficeJet 6958 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just purchased my officejet 6958 about two weeks ago and have been struggling on and off with it. While setting up I kept getting a message saying there was a problem with my printhead; however, the message eventually went away and it printed 2 pages normally. Then, the third time I printed a page it barely appeared on the paper. It took several tries to get a normal complete print. I was able to copy a paper and print another paper that was fairly normal, just a little off in the printing. Then the same thing occured where I had to attempt to print a page several times in order to get a full print again. After that the printer printed with major sections of the paper missing and now it doesn't print at all. The paper comes out completely blank. I've also tried doing a photocopy and it comes out completely blank. I've checked the ink levels and they appear nearly full on the display. If anyone knows any troubleshooting methods for this situation, it would be greatly appreciated.

@JakeAspens,

Good day. Thanks for stopping by the Hp forums. It will be a delight to assist you and let us make it a memorable experience as this is your first visit here. But your extensive research and fabulous troubleshooting competence are laudable. Kudos to you for that.

Was there a power outage or surge before the issue started?

For now, it looks like a hardware issue or a cartridge related issue with the printer. Let's try these steps:

I will send you a private message to assist you with the next course of action. Check your forum private message box in the upper right corner next to the bell icon.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

Thank you for the assistance, but unfortunately it did not seem to be much help. To my knowledge there has also been no power outages between the times I've had problems with the printer. I didn't see any change after reseting the printer and the printer was also up-to-date. It actually seemed to be getting better when I was cleaning the printhead as mentioned in the last link you provided. It was still completely blank the first time, but the second-level cleaning showed some ink, though it was very distorted. I continued onto the third-level cleaning and it seemed to be exactly the same as the second-level cleaning, quite distorted with a lot of parts missing, Afterward it started to get worse again and began printing blank pages by about the fifth page I printed since starting the printhead cleaning process. The printer would only print blank pages unless I pressed clean beforehand and even then I have yet to receive one normally printed page; they all have had many pieces gone. Do you have any advice as to what I should do next?

@JakeAspens,

I read the response and your efforts and time are immensely appreciated. This looks like a hardware issue with the printer and it needs to be replaced. Please check your forum private message for further assistance. look for the envelope next to the bell in the upper right corner.

Thanks and have a  treat week ahead.
