HP OfficeJet 6962 All-in-One Printer

My original issue posted HERE was never resolved, ended up being packed into the box and put on the shelf during COVID.
I finally get around to resolving the issue (I had hoped) by running the printhead cleaning cycle 5 times, physically cleaning all the crap off the printhead, and inserting new HP cartridges into the carriage.

Then all hell breaks loose.

During the next printhead test, the printer was still not quite printing as it should. I ran a system update for the firmware as directed by the product download page for this printer. Resume to run the next printhead test and the printer just stops. I again followed directions from the automated troubleshooting AI, shut down the printer and unplugged for 1 minute.

After rebooting the printer insists that it was not shutdown properly, and  has a paper jam (non-existent). Proceed to clear out the jam that doesn't exist, clear the message on screen and get a new message that there has been an error:
0x6100004a (Printer Failure) and if the problem persists to contact HP.....It has persisted through 14 power cycles.

Turning on the printer with the printhead door (Lid) open, does nothing; The carriage now refuses to move over to remove the cartridges (in the far off chance that genuine cartridges could be faulty) and/or replace them.

Looking for good advice to actually fix the issue, and failing that ANY non-HP product recommendations to replace this 7 years long, $200 paperweight that is now larger than my pc.
