Once worked great now has multiple issue for which I can find no answers. 1) Will not duplex print. 2) Only works if genuine HP cartridges installed. 3) periodically prints device management messages.
Like I said, all these issues were not present a year ago. It almost seems like HP is doing everything possible to get me to abandon this printer. I AM LOOKING FOR REAL ANSWERS to these problems. i have already spent hours and hours following HP "Expert" instructions to no avail. The on-board website on the printer has almost no configurable options, the windows driver seems to be the same. It appears to me that the firmware needs to be updated or perhaps downgraded to the pervious version but searching for firmware for this model doesn't produce any results.
Current driver is Type 3 - User Mode Version 6.0.6000.55555.

I figured out the duplex printing problem. Using the Print Management Console (printmanagement.msc) and double-clicking on my printer I was able to go into the device settings tap and change the Duplex Unit parameter from "Not installed" to "Installed". This is a drop down menu selection although it is not apparent. You must click on the underlined option to get the drop down to appear. Once I changed the parameter the duplex printing worked. The question is: what "update" changed this setting? This was working but some change to the driver (i.e., an update) disabled this feature. One down, two to go.
