Hello,
I have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS High Sierra (10.13.1) and an OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format AIO.
The printer is set up correctly: I can print from my iphone and I can scan from my MacBook Pro. When using the HP Utility App on my MacBook, I can print a test page correctly. So there is no issue with the printer itself or with the wireless network. The HP Utility App says that when I can print the test page correctly, I should try to reinstall the driver (because the HP Utility App connects directly to the printer bypassing the driver and other system processing). I did all that.
I installed the newest drivers (update 12 December 2017). All is downloaded and installed correctly (no errors or warnings), but when I want to print a test page from HP Easy Start it says 'Print - Error while printing'.
When I try to print from Chrome or Word for example, I get the same error.
My user has admin rights.
Is there anyone who can help me please?
Thank you!

Hi @JD1979,
Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding assistance with the printer not working with your MacBook Pro running High Sierra. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂
Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
- Did this happen after a software or OS update?
Reset Mac printing system and then add the printer by following these steps:
• Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
• Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
• Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
• Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
• Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
• Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
• Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
• Click the “Add button” (+).
• Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.
• Click “Print Using...” or “Use”, and then select Secure AirPrint or AirPrint. Alternatively, you may select the name of your printer if available in that list.

Hello David,
Thank you for helping me solve this!
Resetting the printer system and then adding the printer again worked! It probable was a driver that was not installed correctly I guess. I am SOOOO happy I can finally use my printer 🙂
Best regards,
Joke
