I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e.  I just changed my black ink cartridge (using an Original HP ink cartridge) and now my printer has been stuck saying "validating - please wait" for hours. I unplugged the power cable from both ends, waited a couple of minutes and then plugged it back in and it still sits at "validating - please wait." I also tried reseating the cartridge.  Any suggestions?

HI @CoolBreeze202,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e gets stuck on "validating - please wait" after replacing an ink cartridge, it can be quite frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue:

1. Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.:
    • Unplug the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet.:
    • Wait at least 60 seconds.:
    • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
    • Turn the printer back on.

2. Check for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer cover and remove the ink cartridge:
    • Inspect the cartridge slot and the cartridge itself for any visible obstructions or debris.
    • If you see any ink or debris, carefully clean it with a lint-free cloth.

3. Reseat the Cartridge:

  • Reinsert the ink cartridge, making sure it is properly seated.
    • Ensure that the cartridge clicks into place securely.

4. Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
    • Enter your printer model and look for firmware updates.
    • Download and install any available firmware updates. Firmware updates can resolve many issues, including those related to cartridge validation.

5. Use a Different Cartridge:

  • Try Another Cartridge:
    • If you have another HP original ink cartridge, try inserting it to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the cartridge itself.

6. Hard Reset:

  • Remove Cartridges:
    • Open the printer and remove all ink cartridges.
  • Close Cover:
    • Close the cover with the cartridges removed.
  • Power Cycle:
    • Power off the printer, unplug it, and wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reinsert Cartridges:
    • Plug the printer back in, power it on, and wait until it prompts you to install the cartridges. Reinsert the cartridges one by one.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
