HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Worst HP printer we’ve ever owned. Since buying 1 year ago, it routinely prints yellow as green and most other colors wrong. Fortunately most of our pages are greyscale so we put up with it. Cleaning cartridges 3 to 5 times fixes the problem, but by next day the problem returns. Yellow is green. Rinse, repeat. Again and again.

All cartridges have been replaced. HP Support agent on phone tried to help with other cleaning techniques, urged me to clean cartridges over and over, and even sent new cartridges. But, the problem always returns. This also burns through Instant Ink b/c all those diagnostic pages count toward our monthly page count. So fun to pay extra for bad printing!

Does HP have “lemon law” for OJ 8030 printers? It’s been a year and this seems to be design problem or defective product. I would gladly trade in this POS tomorrow for free replacement or other OJ that actually works. Please help.

Hi @toddster2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are facing issues with the print quality.

Excellent description and a great diagnosis. It is greatly appreciated.

Try updating the firmware and see if that helps. Click here

If you have performed all the steps from this document and after changing cartridges if you are still facing issues, this could be a hardware issue and the printer might need service.

For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.

Update... I spoke w/ HP Support a few days ago. Success, then fail.

We cleaned cartridges several times, swapped cyan for new, and manually cleaned print head interfaces. Colors were good, for 1 day. Then yellow turned green/blue again. And when I unwrapped new yellow cartridge to replace it, ink spilled on my hands and printer before I could catch it in a rag. Luckily, not on clothes or furniture, this time.

So, I am ready to send this printer back for "recycling". Will HP replace it, since it never worked right?
