Offijet 8620
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've seen this problem elsewhere, but I haven't found any solution.

I have an OfficeJet 8620. A Word document has the font Sitka Text in it. The document simply will not print. It gets sent to the computer, the printer status window opens and shows the status "Printing." The document size reaches "X KB/X KB" And then it vanishes from the status window.

This happens with all of the Sitka font variations.

FWIW, a pdf document with Sitka embedded prints just fine.

What's the deal?

Welcome to HP support community.

Update the printer firmware

Here are the steps:- Click here

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Sandy,

I performed all of your suggested steps, but the behavior has not changed. The printer will not print any document with Sitka font in it. The behavior is as described in my OP.

As I said, I've seen this problem reported elsewhere in the past, but I haven't seen any successful remedies.

What next?

Thanks.

This might require remote access of the computer to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Cheers.

Sandy,

I appreciate your efforts. Isn't there a way to tell me the steps the tech may take during remote access? I do know my way around the computer, and I feel capable of following steps that are laid out.

Many thanks!

Ken

Will do. Thanks.

Sandy, my 8620 is out of warranty. As such, I can find no option to actually speak with someone in tech support. The only option that comes up after following your directions is to visit the Support Community--which is obviously what I've been doing.

How do I speak with someone about an out-of-warranty printer?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
