OfficeJet Pro 6968
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

OfficeJet Pro 6968 won't print on Avery Labels properly

Prints too high on the page and gets cut off.

This is a "Pro" printer but it seems like a basic printer with poor paper handling.

I need this fixed!

@Chris_Rozzoni, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Is this issue limited to printing from the Avery app?

Kindly refer to the printer specifications to know the supported paper types and paper sizes.

This could be an application-specific issue. Contact the Avery support for assistance if the issue is limited to printing from the Avery app.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello Kumar!

Answers below:

  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
Chris -> Yes, PDF and Word document, no different.

  • Is this issue limited to printing from the Avery app?
Chris -> Not using the Avery app directly.  Generating PDFs and printing from PDF.

Kindly refer to the printer specifications to know the supported paper types and paper sizes.

Chris -> Using standard paper and labels which should be compatible with any modern printer.

This could be an application-specific issue. Contact the Avery support for assistance if the issue is limited to printing from the Avery app.
Chris -> As noted, this is not app-specific.  This is a printer problem.

Chris -> I had a OfficeJet Pro 8600 which worked flawlessly for years.  It died and I am using the OfficeJet Pro 6968 as the only other printer I have available.  It looks to me that the paper feed mechanism is faulty.  Unfortunately the printer is out of warranty so I have to look for another one unless you have any further suggestions.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Perform a clean reinstallation of Pre-installed HP drivers

  1.  In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  2.  Select your HP Printer
  3.  Select Uninstall
  4.  In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  5.  In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
  6.  Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
  7.  Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  8.  Click on the “Drivers” tab
  9.  Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  10.  Select Ok
  11.  Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  12.  Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Try printing.

Let me know how this goes.
