Hi-I have an OfficeJet Pro 8210, few months old. It works fine but continually disconnects from the Ethernet after 2 hours or so, or more. It seems like it is entering a power-save state or sleep state. If I check Ethernet status it is not connected.
I can shut down and restart the printer and job will then print.
I can't fdind a setting for this, or am missing it somewhere.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.
You need to perform a semi-full reset to fix the problem. However, as the steps to perform a semi-full reset is confidential and dedicated to your printer. I will be sending you a private message please watch your inbox for more information.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
I reviewed your post and I understand that the printer disconnects from the network after 2 hours of inactivity.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Power usage is reduced while in Sleep mode. The printer will enter Sleep mode after a selected period of inactivity. The default time is 5 minutes.
To change the period of inactivity before the printer sleeps:
1. On the printer control panel, from the Home screen, select Setup, and then press OK.
2. Select Printer Settings, and then press OK.
3. Select Power Management, and then press OK.
4. Select Sleep Mode, and then press OK.
5. Select the desired option, and then press OK.
Please refer to the below user guide for your printer for more information.

Yes, I realize that there is a sleep mode, longest time before sleep is 15 minutes.
My Ethernet disconnects after a period of hours, long after which sleep time has passed.
I changed the sleep timers with no improvement.
Can the sleep timer be turned off?

The sleep mode cannot be turned off on the printer. However, I recommend you assign a static IP on the printer and it should take care of the issue.
Here is how it is done.
Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

No, no, no-
As I said in previous posts, this is hard-wired into Ethernet, not on wireless.
I looked at the wired settings-there is no "suggest a manual IP address" for wired net that I can see. I used the printers address-10.0.0.232.
I changed the manual DNS settings as suggested-8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, at which point I could no longer connect to the printer, had to uninstall and reinstall.
No luck so far............
