OfficeJet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

No matter what I do, I cannot seem to be able to make my OfficeJet Pro 8710 print in color.

It happens when I try to print in Windows 10 64 bit, in Linux Mint and even when I copy photos using the printer's apps.

Even the self test pages from the printer do not print in color.

The firmware is the most recent one and all the drivers are current (not that the latter matters when it comes to copying / printing self test pages...).

And yes, the color ink cartridges are brand new!!

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and I appreciate all your efforts and expertise i troubleshooting this issue

I suggest you clean the Printhead

  1. Load plain white paper into the tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to scroll to Setup, and then touch the Setup icon (). The Setup menu displays.

  3. Swipe the display to scroll to Tools, and then touch Tools.

  4. Touch Clean Printhead.

NOTE: Mechanical noises during the cleaning process are normal.
  5. When the first cleaning stage completes, a test page prints. Examine the test page for print quality.

    • If these steps resolved the issue, touch No to skip the other cleaning stages. You do not need to continue troubleshooting.

    • If the issue persists, touch Yes to start the second cleaning stage.

  6. When the second cleaning stage completes, a test page prints. Examine the test page for print quality.

    • If these steps resolved the issue, touch No to skip the last cleaning stage. You do not need to continue troubleshooting.

    • If the issue persists, touch Yes to start the last cleaning stage.

  7. When the last cleaning stage completes, a test page prints. Touch OK, and then examine the test page for print quality.

I had already gone through all those cleaning steps several times. Nevertheless, I repeated all of them, just to be on the safe side, but to no avail.

So, I went to HP Support for Service Options and ordered a new print head (ref.: M0H91A).

The print head and the new cartridges are already costing me much more than the original printer price. Therefore, and right now, I'm just praying that buying the print head will be the end of this.
