I have an OfficeJet Pro 9020 that is displaying "Tray 2 is open. Make sure the paper you want to use is loaded, and then close the tray to continue printing from this tray." but the tray is closed.  At first it would let me dismiss the message.  I did a factory reset per another recommendation, but no I have the issue AND can't dismiss the message.  I'm unable to use the printer for anything now (print, copy, scan, etc.).  Any help is greatly appreciated!

@simmerent, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that you are not able to print due to this error. Remove and reinstall Tray 2.

For info, refer to page 25 of the user guide.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Thanks for your reply, Kumar.  When I go to install the firmware I'm receiving the message "This firmware upgrader does not contain updates for your device".  I have the 9025 and am trying to install the firmware update 002.2202B from a macbook.  Any suggestions?

@simmerent

It seems like the printer has the latest firmware installed already. If the issue persists,
