This is an informational post!!!

Machine has been hanging, display unresponsive, no message visible, user has been powering it down and then back up and it will run a couple of days.

In the event log there is a code, 61.30.01, Description = "Unknown", after researching I found a post on HP dot com that says:

61.30.01 Scheduled maintenance missed.

There is no documentation as to what the Scheduled Maintenance is supposed to be, (I am an authorized Tech with access to the manuals).

I have checked with HP Support and been told that the scheduled maintenance is running all three levels of Printbar, (printhead), cleaning, this has been done and I am waiting to see if it has resolved the issue.  To do the cleaning you access the Device Maintenance menu on the control panel. and then select Calibration/Cleaning.  After the first level cleaning is complete you act ike there are problems and tell it to continue, this runs the second level cleaning.  You do this again after the Second Level is complete and the Third Level runs and it also will do a Printhead Calibration.

Also if you get the 61.30.01 Scheduled maintenance missed message on the display you should press and hold the power button for at least three seconds and the machine should give you the option of performing the maintenance. (mine did not, and it was only one Firmware level down from current, the version was: Level: 3.5.1 Date Code: 20150609 Version: 2305090_000462)

Also worth noting, the X585 with the event log message has over 44,000 pages printed and has been in use for about 9 months.

I checked the event log this morning and found the 61.30.01 message in it from yesterday, it occured at 7:15 PM so running the cleanings did not resolve the issue, although it did improve print quality.

I checked with the user and they did not have to power cycle the machine this morning, but the first job they sent was not printed, when they clicked print again it worked.

I will contact HP Support again and work on a resolution next week.

HP decided that since I still had some print quality issues although somewhat minor they wanted me to run an advanced cleaning page.

They shipped me the page which is essentially a heavy piece of paper with a piece of foam about the thickness of air conditioner filter foam attached to it.

You put the cleaning page in the tray and run the advanced cleaning utility which slowly moves the page through the printer and the foam across the print bar.

Unfortunately each time I ran the advanced cleaning page the print quality got worse.

HP sent a Tech to replace the engine which is the print mechanism of the machine, that happened today.

I am now waiting to see if I still get the same error in the event log, since the formatter was moved from the old machine I suspect I will still be having that message.

Today I called HP about a different X585 and at the end of the call asked about this error message again.

What I found out was that the error was because the printer was unable to perform a maintenance properly and that what the printer was unable to do was a calibration.

Therefore the reason HP Support had me do the three levels of cleaning that culminated in the priter calibrating after the third level were to do what the printer had been unable to properly complete.

The error has not happened since the print engine was replaced 8 days ago so it appears that the message indicated a hardware failure.

If the error reoccurs I will update this thread.

Can't tell if that has anything to do with the 61.30.01 Message...
