The menu screen on my officejet 3830 seems go into sleep mode and I can't get it to light up. The power button light is on, and the blue network connection light is on. It prints fine, but if I want to copy, I can't get the screen to light up.
The only way I can get it to function is to unplug from power.

Hi,
Typical HP printer has sleep mode function to save energy. You can go to SETUP icon >> PREFERENCE >> SLEEP MODE to change the settings.
Besides in order to avoid printer offline after printer goes into sleep mode. You can try the steps below to fix the issue.
- First, assign a manual IP to your printer by obtaining the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
Now we need to reinstall the printer. Try the steps blow:
- Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Restart your computer.
- Now click on this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-OfficeJet-3830-All-in-One-Printer-series/7172321/... and install the full feature software for your printer.
- In the connection window, choose “wireless” and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup.
Let me know if that helps or if you need further assistance.
Cheer!
