My printer prints in color when I initiate a test page at the printer, but it won't print in color when we send print jobs from our laptops (2 different laptops).  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the print driver.  There is no color/greyscale/blackwhite option in Printer Preferences.  I gave up speaking to the support person, though she mentioned there was another product driver that would be compatible.  Wondering if anyone has tried a different driver with success, and, if so, which one.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printing issue.

 

Please try adding the printer using TCP/ IP port - 

 

1.) Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.

2.) Choose “Printers & scanners“.

3.) Select “Add a printer or scanner“.

4.) Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.

5.) Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.

6.) Select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.

7.) Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel. 

8.) Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.

 That is not the solution and does not even address the problem. HP should be ashamed that they haven't patched this problem after 3 years of people having it. And, I wasted time talking to support. Your support people should know the solution by now. The only way to get around this is to install and select a different driver, called HP ePrint + JetAdvantage.
