I have a new HP Laptop that WILL NOT print wireless to my HP Officejet 4500.
I've downloaded the HP 4500 driver package, installed & uninstalled it. I can print with my USB connected but no wireless.
I used the Scan Doctor and it runs the course but eventually indicated the printer is not communicating with the laptop.
Finally, I can use my IPad to print wireless with no issues.
Very confused
Please help!!!!

Hey there! @rocknroll, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
Don't worry I'll try to help you out. Please answer few questions below to assist you better.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Are you able to print using a USB cable?
Are you able to make a copy from the printer?
Have you replaced the router recently?
Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.
Try the steps recommended below.
Connect the printer with WPS
Use WPS to connect the printer to your wireless network.
-
Locate the WPS button on your router, but do not press it yet.
If your router does not support WPS, skip to the next step to connect the printer with the HP Smart app.
-
Turn on the printer. If the printer is in sleep mode, press the Cancel button on the control panel.
-
Reset the printer network settings. Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Power light blinks. Wait until the Wireless light blinks.
Any network settings on the printer are now reset. Your printer remains in setup mode for 2 hours.
NOTE:
For HP Tango printers, press and hold the Wireless button on the back of the printer for 5 seconds. The Edge lighting flashes blue to indicate the printer is in wireless setup mode.
-
On the router, press and hold the WPS button for 3 to 5 seconds or until it shows that the WPS connection process has started.
NOTE:
The printer stops searching for a WPS connection two minutes after the wireless button is pressed. If you were unable to press the WPS button within that timeframe, attempt these steps again.
Once the printer is connected, the blue Wireless light stops blinking and remains on.
Uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.
Update the full feature printer software using this link. Click Here
Also, I'd suggest you assign a manual IP address and also disable the IPv6 on the printer. Here are the steps:
• Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
• Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
• Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
• Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
• Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
• Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
Also, If the issue persists please try the steps recommended below.
Restart the computer, printer, and router to resolve any error states present during the printer setup.
note:
The following steps temporarily disconnect network and Internet connections and require restarting your computer. Complete any tasks or downloads in progress before continuing.
1.Disconnect the power cord from the router.
2.Turn off the printer.
3.Close all running programs on your computer, including the HP software installation window, then shut down the computer.
4.Reconnect the power cord to the router, then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.
5.Turn on the printer.
6.Turn on the computer.
7.Try installing the HP driver and software again.

Hi! @rocknroll, thanks for your prompt response again.
I appreciate your efforts in trying out the steps.
As the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Print a wireless test report from the printer and check the wireless connection status.
To print a wireless test page Print the wireless test page for information about the device's wireless connection. The wireless test page provides information about the device's status, MAC address, and IP address. If the device is connected to a network, the test page displays details about the network settings. ▲ Device control panel: Press Setup, select Print Report, select Wireless Test, and then press OK.
Lastly, if nothing works try performing a semi-full reset on the printer.
As the steps to perform a semi-full reset is confidential and dedicated to your printer.
I will share the steps through a private message. Please watch your inbox for more information.
Hope this helps!
