Good day,

I am using a HP Officejet 7740, and recently, I cannot use 3rd Party Compatible Ink Cartridges anymore. Apparently the machines has been LOCKED so ONLY Original Cartridges can be used?  This is UTTERLY ridiculous, and HP is creating a Monopoly that is unacceptable. 

If someone have a workaround or idea how I can get the Legally purchused, Non counterfeit  compatible cartridges to work on my machine, It will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the cartridge issue. 

 

This is a Dynamic security enabled printer. The Firmware Update may prevent supplies with non-HP chips or circuitry from working.

 

Note: For printers manufactured prior to December 1, 2016 dynamic security will not be enabled by the firmware. Please note that HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP cartridges.

Hi, Thanks, but NO THANKS.  So, I have no say by choosing to use generic cartridges, even if I accept the fact that it MIGHT affect the print quality? I DEMAND a workaround. It is my right to be able to choose the Generic, much more affordable solotion. Otherwise, this printer is WASTE. I WILL NOT pay two thirds of the price of a printer just for cartridges. NOT AT ALL! If this was a cheap printer, it made sense. But it is not!

 

I am waiting for my workaround ASAP!
