Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Officejet 8600 won't print web pages since recent software update.  I've tried unplugging, using diagnostic fix, searched online, used the virtual agent, etc. but have found nothing to solve.  My computer is an HP Notebook on Windows 7.

Hello,

If you are printing from Web pages using Google Chrome then kindly try the below steps.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Open the page, image, or file you want to print.
  3. Click File and then Print. Or, use a keyboard shortcut:
    • Windows & Linux: Ctrl + p
    • Mac: ⌘ + p
  4. In the window that appears,  below the  destination  click on Change button select the printer you want to print on.
  5. When ready, click Print.

Note: Google Chrome may not always consider your default printer in PC as its default printer.

Hello,

Below listed are 2 suggestions that should resolve the issue.

  1. Please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from www.hp.com/go/tools ,
  2. If the above step did not resolve the issue then try the below mentioned steps ...

1.Click Start button on the Computer .
2.then click on Control Panel .
3.then Printers and Faxes
4.On top-left, click on Add a Printer
5.Click on Add a Local Printer
6.Then while "Use an Existing port" is selected , select "Virtual USB port ... " then click Next
7.from the Manufacturer list, select HP, and then under Printers list select Deskjet 990c" or Deskjet 6980, then Click next and complete the wizard

Now try printing . It should work.

The print and scan doctor did not fix the problem.  I have two printers showing in Control Panel:  HP 8600 and HP 8600 (Network).  Both will print anything except internet emails/pages. I tried the second fix.  Virtual USB port is not an option I can select.  I have wasted hours searching and trying different solutions from various HP related websites.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled software, etc. I'm sure a live person would have this fixed in 10 minutes.  I am beyond frustrated!

Yes, that worked!  The destination was already set to HP 8600, but there is an option for "local" destinations versus "recent" destination.  I checked the HP 8600 under "local" destinations and that did it.  Thank you!  Such a simple solution versus uninstalling and reinstalling software.
