HP Officejet Pro 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi Community,

Things I have done:

-Bought and installed new cartridges

-Cleaned the Printerhead (atleast 2x)

-Reseated the printerhead (atleast 3x)

-updated the firmware and software

-installed HP Smart for further updates and diagnostic information

-diagnostically there is nothing wrong with the cartridges, it shows no error.

I have had my Officejet 8600 pro since 2014 but due to never refilling the cartridges I haven't used it in years

Found that when I turned it on I got the "Inkt System Failure" notification, which I wasn't too surprised about.

So I bought brand new cartridges, installed them and also cleaned the printerhead thoroughly with distilled water as the HP tutorial suggested, whatever.

I actually cleaned it twice.

My problem persists. All other functions work perfectly on the printer,

except for the fact that I cannot print anything because of the persisting error.

This is quite frustrating as I believe the printer is far too versatile and good for me to go and invest in another one, and throw this out, but i'm afraid this problem wont have a resolution.

If anyone can help me, you would save me a lot of trouble, thanks in advance!

Hi Sandytechy20,

Thank you for your assistance.

You referred me to get in contact (talk) with the HP Support.

They have explained to me the situation of the printer (the unsolvable defect that has occurred) and referred me to the Sales department to look for a replacement device.

The sales department assisted me in finding a suitable, comparable device based on my wish of a relatable printer, and they have offered me a 20% cashback discount on my new purchase.

Too bad the problem couldn't be resolved internally or externally, but I guess that happens sometimes.

I'm glad I was to be assisted  by friendly co-workers for a go at a replacement device.

The only thing that remains is what I ought to do with my Officejet Pro 8600 printer. Putting it out on the street seems ill-judged... any suggestions?

Thanks you for your everything and have a nice day!

@PEV2,@bluechina-lady Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print due to this error. Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - An 'Ink System Failure' or 'System Supply Problem' Error Displays

Make sure you are using HP ink cartridges and they are properly seated.

If the error persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware failure. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
