The printer was working perfectly but ran out of Cyan ink. I removed the cartridge and left the flap open while I went to get a replacement. Unfortunately it took 3 days for the replacement to arrive. Meanwhile to flap was left open but the cartridges returned to their park position. Now I have got back to the printer with the new cartridge but I cannot get the cartridge holder come come out from the parked position so I can fit the new cartridge and the control panel window will not respond to any of the buttons. The HP logo is displayed okay - but the screen will not respond to any of the buttons. The HP logo just continues to be displayed. I have tried removing the power lead and the network lead at least 3 times - but absolutely no difference. How do I get the control panel to respond please?

Thanks.

Hello and thank you for those suggestions. Unfortunately the main point has been missed in that the control window and touch buttons are completely inactive. I've gone through turning the printer off and completely disconnecting the power cable etc. When reconnected the green power button always comes on straight away (does not need to be pressed) and the HP logo is displayed on the control window - and then the printer just sits there. It does not go through any power-up routine at all. I can open the door to load a cartridge - but the carrier remains in it's parked position. It does not come towards the open door for the new cartridge to be loaded. It seems like the printer software  is "locked" somehow. Can HP do that remotely through our router?

The printer does not get heavy usage so is in brand new condition. I would really like to get this sorted out somehow.

Many thanks.

Finally got it fixed!! For anyone with the same fault - here is the relatively simple fix. Disconnect the printer from the mains power. Maybe actually unplug it from the wall socket - but to be honest I don't think this is necessary. The critical action is BEFORE turning back on the mains power to the printer is to PRESS THE PRINTER ON/OFF BUTTON ON THE FRONT OF THE PRINTER AND KEEP IT PRESSED WHILE YOU TURN ON THE MAINS POWER SUPPLY AND THEN KEEP THE ON/OFF BUTTON PRESSED CONSTANTLY FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 20 OR 30 SECONDS AFTER THE MAINS POWER HAS BEEN CONNECTED. This action seems to re-boot the printer after it has gone into a deep sleep (maybe "off-line") and brings back on the control window and everything starts to work okay again.

So easy when you know how - but this simple fix doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. Everyone seems to jump to more complex fixes. I hope that helps anyone with a similar problem.
