My printer no longer displays a menu on the screen. This is what is displayed when it is started:
1. Initalising process (20 seconds for set up)
2. Animation showing how to insert the duplex section... click next
3. Animation showing how to install the ink cartridges... after the animation nothing happens. No Next button to press.
I s there a special/button combination to rest to the factory defaults?
thx..

Hi @Stan25
Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
I understand that there are no Menu options on your Printer display anymore.
I could help.
Let's start with a Printer Reset.
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
You can also download the Firmware from here
Please let me know how it goes.
If the issue persists, we will attempt a Semi-Full Reset to Factory Settings.
Thank you. 🙂
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons.
That will help others find the solution.

Hi Krazy Toad,
Thank you for the suggestions. I received your e-mail but unfortunately the suggestion did not work.
Here is the sequence of events after I turn on the printer:
1. "Set Up" title is displayed with instructions (set up network etc) with two buttons to press: "View Demo" and "Continue"
- If I press "View Demo" I only get a series of animation.
2. When I press the "Continue" button I get the message .....Initalizing "Set Up"... wait for 20 seconds.
3. Next I get an animation showing how to install the Duplexer at the back of the printer,
then a "Next" button is displayed. I press the button....
4. Another animation is displayed showing how to insert/remove the ink cartridges. At the end of the animation
there is only one button displayed..."Replay". There is no other button to continue the set up.
When I press the BL button as suggested, step #2 is started again....
thanks for your help... really need a solution....

Please remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts with a Lint-Free cloth and reinstall them firmly.
Then try the Printer Reset once again.
If the issue persists, please contact our Phone Support for Service Options.
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and phone number appear.
Thank you.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will try the steps suggested and if no luck will contact HP customer service. I hope they can help especially since I bught 4 new ink cartridges and would be very disappointed if the cost to repair the printer is about the same for a new printer.... thanks and have a Great Day...

Hi Thank you. I am now having an additional error message.... "Ink System Failure. There is a problem with the printer or ink system. The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, incorrectly installed or incompatible." None of it is true. I have installed 4 new HP ink cartidges and made sure the print head is seated properly.
I will call the HP Support Center as you suggested... Thank you again for your excellent assistance..... Have a Great Day.

I contacted phone support and they were unable to provide a solution.
I have 4 new ink cartridges and and will have to decide what to do as I prefer not to spend any additional money
on the printer.:smileysad:
