My brand new Officejet Pro 8610 won't take in any card stock or heavy weight papers.  Is this fixable or should I return the printer? Thanks

I received a replacement tray from customer support and the new one loads heavier weight papers with no problem!

I believe the spring mechanism on the original tray wasn't strong enough (or accurate enough) to lift card stock to the right placement for correct intake. On the new tray, when the spring release is pressed on the back, there is much more upward pressure to lift the paper against the internal intake rollers.

Problem solved. Thanks!

Hi

Check the printer printing preference - paper type selection. Choose the appropriate paper type to meet your expectation. You can try various paper types setting and hope one can work.

I just setup the same printer, will not print card stock. Out of Paper, make sure paper has been loaded in the tray and that the paper is below the paper stack line shown on the tray. Touch OK when ready to continue.

The paper is loaded and below the tray, if I put a new sheet on top of the card stock, it prints. Under print preferences, card stock has been selected. I believe this models rollers can't handle the thicker paper. The support web site shows up to 66 lbs for photo paper, and I am trying to use 67lb cover stock which I beleive is the problem. It seems the printer should be returned as 67lb is regular card stock.

Hi there,

Had you tried these steps before sending the printjob?

1) Closing the width and length adjustor after loading the card stock media

2) Selecting card stock/ photo as media type on the software driver

It works perfectly for me with these steps.:smileylol:

I feel ripped off. I purchased this printer a few months ago and haven't tried card stock printing until now. It DOES NOT work. It is advertised and sold as though card stock should work. It DOES NOT.

I want my money back

I have a brand new Officejet Pro 8610. I went to print on a sheet of cardstock, so I loaded in a sheet of 110lb cardstock on top of the regular paper in the tray. I went to print, choosing the correct settings for cardstock etc. and the cardstock would not feed.

After much trial and error I discovered that it would feed if I loaded a few sheets of cardstock into the tray on top of the regular paper even though I just needed to print on one sheet of it.

On further testing, loading in a few sheets of cardstock on top of the regular paper didn't always work. Sometimes I had to try flipping the sheet over and trying again. In the end I got it to work again.

Needless to say, this printer is very finicky and terrible at feeding cardstock.
