HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer

I put new Cyan ink cartridge in but receive error message:  …problem with printer or ink system.  It said to turn off printer, unplug and turn back on.  Tried several times… tried taking all the cartridges out and replacing them.  New cartridge is a HP cartridge.  But error message the same. Downloaded latest firmware and reset/cleaned printhead numerous times but still get same error message.  I don't see any solutions that work on the community support chat board.  Would appreciate some one-on-one help.

Hi @PeteTX1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are getting an error message of a problem with the printer or ink system on your Officejet Pro 8620 . Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Hi Gaya1239,

I followed all the power-down instructions and the printer firmware is the most recent.  Unfortunately, these steps did not solve the problem and displayed the same error message. Can you give me any further ideas to resolve this problem?
