I have a HP Officeject Pro 8715 running on Windows 8.1. I bought this printer a few months ago to replace a HP Officejet 8710 that did not seem to communicate with my computer; after uninstalling & reinstalling both the printer & the driver several times, I continued to get a printer error message, so finally gave up & replaced the printer. Now, I am having the same issue with the 8715! It sometimes works & sometimes doesn't. I was able to successfully print my letters 2 days ago, but started getting the error message when I tried to print the envelopes. Now I can't print anything! Again, I have uninstalled & reinstalled both the printer and the driver several times , but to no avail. HELP!!! I have to get these letters out in the mail & they are now dated 2 days ago so I need to reprint them and still print the envelopes ASAP.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
Let me know if you're able to copy.
Let's try to reset the network settings on the Printer:
From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ). 2. Touch Network Setup. 3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored. 4. Touch Yes. 5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.
Once done, please connect the Printer to the network:
1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless). 2. Touch ( Settings ). 3. Touch Wireless Settings. 4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard. 5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.
Also, let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Thanks so very much, Betty , for the consise solution. I will save it in case I have issues again. However, for some reason, after a brief 'rest' (a few days LOL), my printer just started working, printing exactly what I wanted! Maybe it could sense that I was so frustrated that I was about to throw it out the window. HAHAHAHA!!!
