Hi @Patrik3662,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you’re facing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 not printing from your laptop, despite other functions like scanning working properly, is a common problem with potential causes related to drivers, the print spooler, or network settings. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Clear Print Spooler

The print spooler might be stuck or corrupted, causing the "error printing" issue. To clear it:

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Scroll down to find Print Spooler, right-click it, and choose Stop.
  • Open File Explorer and go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS.
  • Delete all files in this folder.
  • Go back to the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and click Start.
  • Try printing again.

Update/Reinstall Printer Drivers

Even though you reinstalled the drivers, it’s good to double-check if you’re using the latest drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer (make sure it's for Windows 11).
  • Completely uninstall the current drivers:
    • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click on your printer > Remove Device.
    • Go to Device Manager, expand Print queues, right-click your printer, and select Uninstall Device.
  • Reinstall the latest drivers and reconnect your printer.

Check Printer Status and Connectivity

Ensure that your printer is set as the default printer and is "online":

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 and select Set as Default Printer.
  • Right-click the printer again and ensure that Use Printer Online is selected.

Also, verify that the printer is still connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop and has a stable connection.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP provides a utility called HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can detect and resolve common printer issues:

  • Download it from HP’s website.
  • Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to troubleshoot the printing issue.

Reset the Printer

Sometimes, a hard reset can clear internal issues:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Try printing again.

Check Windows Firewall/Antivirus

Your firewall or antivirus may be blocking the print process. Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall and see if printing works. If it does, you may need to add an exception for your printer.

Print from a Different Device

To rule out any device-specific issues, try printing from a different device (another laptop or smartphone) to see if the issue persists.

Try Printing via USB

If all else fails, try connecting the printer directly via USB to see if the issue is network-related. If printing works over USB, there may be a problem with the wireless connection or network settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
