HP Pavilion All-in-One - 24-r012na

I have had my Printer for a number of years and in my opinion it has never worked correctly. It never holds its settings and has to be reset and turned on and off and reset every time I want to print documents more than a couple of hours apart.

However For no reason that I can tell it has stopped corresponding with my iPhone which continually says no app Printer found I can usually bypasses by switching the printer on and off. However now I have lost all my wireless settings. All settings are out I cannot get into anything to do anything I cannot follow any instructions because nothing works .

I have followed various threads about this as I have tried entering various usernames and passwords some of which are supposedly on stickers on the machine but they are not. I’ve tried admin and admin and various other combination suggested and nothing absolutely nothing is working. The Printer is now useless .

Another problem which may or may not be related is that since the last time I put in my new ink cartridges received under my ink plan I am still getting the low ink messages both on the printer and on my iPhone can I assume therefore that I have reached the end of the road for this very expensive to me at least Printer .

Hi @Amicipat,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're facing multiple issues with your Officejet Pro 8020 printer, ranging from connectivity problems to trouble maintaining settings and issues with ink levels. Here’s a step-by-step guide to potentially resolve these issues:

1. Resetting the Printer to Factory Settings

If the printer is not maintaining settings or you're unable to log in with the default username and passwords, a complete factory reset might be necessary. This can usually resolve issues related to configuration errors and connectivity. Here's how you can generally reset most printers:

  • Look for a Reset option in the printer's Setup menu on the printer's display. Since you mentioned you cannot access any settings, you might need to perform a hardware reset. Typically, this involves holding down specific buttons (like the power button along with another button) while turning the printer on. Check your printer’s manual for exact steps.

2. Re-establishing Connection with iPhone

Once the printer is reset, you need to reconnect it to your wireless network. Follow these steps:

  • Use the printer’s touchscreen to navigate to the Wi-Fi settings.
  • Choose to set up a new wireless network and follow the on-screen instructions to connect it to your Wi-Fi.
  • Make sure your iPhone is connected to the same network.

3. Addressing the 'No Printer Found' Issue

If your iPhone still cannot find the printer:

  • Ensure both devices are on the same network.
  • Restart both your iPhone and printer.
  • Download the latest version of the printer app or any necessary software updates on your iPhone.

4. Ink Cartridge and Low Ink Message Issue

If you're still receiving low ink messages after replacing cartridges:

  • Remove the cartridges and check for any protective covers or tapes that might not have been removed.
  • Reinsert the cartridges ensuring they are properly seated.
  • Reset the ink level indicator — this option can sometimes be found in the printer's maintenance menu.
  • If this doesn’t resolve the issue, there might be a problem with the cartridges themselves or the printer’s sensor. Contacting customer support for your ink plan or checking warranty options might be needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your response. Factory reset cannot be accomplished as all the relevant choices are greyed out. I have search both online and the user manual for hard resetting but there is nothing like that which you describe available so that information is not achievable. Whoever/however this situation was activated remotely on my printer needs to get back in and undo the mess caused. This certainly is not of my making. It is my assumption that as HP are monitoring my ink situation they have for some unfathomable reason intentionally locked my printer. I have used only genuine cartridges as supplied by yourselves so I am looking to HP to put this matter right. Giving you permission to monitor for ink usage/replacement does not legally Give you permission to lock my printer to prevent its full function. YOU LOCKED IT YOU UNLOCK IT With the same time frame it took you to cause this situation. Misuse of ink monitoring permission is I am sure highly illegal.
