Photosmart D5160

Hello to everyone.

I copy/paste the same trouble someone got year ago, as seems not fixed yet:

"Every time I plug in the Power Cord and USB the printer seems like it's starting up but then it stops and the screen shows Err, green light at bottom continues blinking, the start stop button stays lit and the exclamation symbol stays red."

On display some error code appears: Err 07874dd6.

The printer is like new, cartridge inside and seems not dry. For sure this printer kept unused for year and years.

Any help is appreciated - thank you

Hi @steven79,

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the  "Problem with printhead"

Let's try a power reset on the printer

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Try the steps in the document -Blinking Lights on the HP Photosmart D5100 Printer Series

If the issue persists, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello @Jay_G24,

thank you for your reply.

I've tried it already, but without success.

I would point you attention that the printer, once connected power plug, automatically switch on (with no sound) and the error appears together with lights as in picture.  The green light on the botto blinking, the others not.

Actually I think I don't get thus printer to HP customer center because, sadly, the eventual reparation fee is higher then the price of a entry level printer.

Just shame to throw it away, as totally unused or almost 😞
