Only bottom half of text line printing on HP 3755

For some reason my HP 3755 is printing only the bottom half of text lines.  I've tried running the utility to clean and align print heads, but it didn't help.  I've removed the driver and loaded a new one. 

Stumped.  All ideas welcome.  🙂

To test the printer remove the black cartridge & print some text, post your results.

Hi Dean.  I tried printing a page of text without the black ink cartridge.  I got an entirely blamk page.

Does this give you a clue?

Empty or bad color cartridge.

Can you try the same test with the black cartridge?

I did the same test with the color cartridge removed and just get the original problem - half the text is missing.  Sometimes it's the top half of a line and sometimes it's the bottom half.

Try soaking the bottom 1/8 inch of the black cartridge in hot water for about 5 mins.

Dry it & try the copy test again.
