HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g
Microsoft Windows 11

Officejet pro 8600 plus.   I can only get one line of printing--often gibberish, and then the printer goes to the next page, prints out one page of gibberish goes to the next page and on and on.  I have turned it off and on.

Diagnostics prints fine.

Please help!

Hi @Euglena

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus printer is stuck in a loop, printing gibberish instead of your actual documents, and while diagnostic pages print fine, regular documents do not. This issue can be caused by several factors such as corrupted print jobs, incorrect printer settings, or communication issues between the printer and your computer. Let's go through a series of troubleshooting steps to address this problem.

Step 1: Cancel All Print Jobs

A corrupted print job might be causing the printer to enter this state.

Cancel any pending print jobs:

  • Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Right-click on your printer and select See what's printing. Cancel any print jobs in the queue.
  • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click on Open Print Queue. Cancel any pending jobs.

Restart the printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Step 2: Check the Printer's Network Connection

If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi, there may be an issue with the connection, which could cause gibberish or incorrect prints.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Wireless Settings and reconnect to your network.
  • Print a Network Configuration Page to verify that the printer is connected to the correct network.

For USB connection:

  • If you're using a USB connection, try unplugging and reconnecting the printer to a different USB port on your computer. Also, try using a different USB cable if you have one.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
