Hi @Dylan000,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6879 is only printing in blue despite having new, authentic cartridges, there could be a few underlying issues causing this problem. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

1. Check the Ink Levels and Cartridges

  • Even though you’ve just replaced the cartridges, double-check the ink levels from the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app. Make sure all cartridges are full or have sufficient ink.
  • Remove and reinstall each cartridge to ensure they are properly seated. Sometimes, a cartridge might not be fully connected.

2. Run Printer Diagnostic and Clean Print Heads:

  • Most printers have a diagnostic or test print option that can help identify print quality issues. Access this from the printer’s control panel or through the HP Smart app.:
  • Use the printer’s built-in cleaning function to clean the print heads. This can help if the print heads are clogged or if ink isn’t being properly distributed. This option is usually found under Setup or Maintenance on the printer's menu.

3. Check for Print Head Issues:

  • If possible, remove the print heads and check for any visible clogs or ink buildup. Follow the printer’s manual for instructions on how to clean or replace the print heads if necessary.

4. Check Printer Settings

  • Ensure that the printer settings are configured for color printing. Sometimes, settings might default to black-and-white or grayscale, which can cause issues. Check this through the printer's control panel or your computer’s print settings.
  • On your computer, ensure that the correct color profiles are selected. Sometimes incorrect color profiles can affect print output.

5. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP Support website. Firmware updates can resolve various issues.
  • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Download and install the most recent drivers from the HP website.

6. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, consider performing a factory reset. This can sometimes resolve deeper software or configuration issues. Check the printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a factory rese

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
