Yes, Big Daddy. I understand how you feel. It's such a shame. I had a great Epson R220 that lasted about 12 years! I just purchased a new printer to replace this HP 6835 and opted for an Epson this time. This time, I purchased an extended warranty with it just in case. It is difficult to find ANY printer (regardless of brand) that offers more than a 1- to 2-year warranty nowadays. Only a few new models I found offered 3 years under special conditions (e.g., must buy through the manufacturer and/or coverage changes over time, so the third year may not cover everything that can go wrong with the printer). Maybe this says something about the quality of printers on the market. I'm hoping my new Epson will last longer than the HP and that you'll find a new printer that works well and lasts for you too. Good luck!
Best regards,
Laurel

I have exactly the same issue with my HP Deskjet GT5820, which is recently out of warranty... Not very comforting that no solution can be provided besides a 179USD investment??? Living in Quito, Ecuador, probably these spare parts are even difficult to find locally.
Hopefully HP can offer an alternative solution?

I want to echo everyone's complaints here. I have the same problem with my HP OfficeJet Pro 6830. I've had this printer for about 5 years, but probably printed less than 500 pages. What a waste! I'll be buying a new printer and it won't be an HP.

I just ran into the same issue. Ran through all the diagnostics and cleaning and called HP to hear them say it was the hardware and to buy a new printer pretty much. I've only had this thing for a year and a half!!!!! This sucks!!!
