I have followed all the suggested fixes for this error - after reading the other questions. My question is could my printhead be the issue? I just ordered a ton of ink cartridges. I would like to be able to fix this printer. Can I order a new printhead through HP and if so, how much are they? If I can't order a printhead or it maybe more expensive then I wish to pay - Is there a trade up program for a new printer. I love this printer for the quality of photos that can be printed.

Hello,
In some cases, remove the ink cartridges and reset the printer can solve the error.
- Turn on the printer.
- Before continuing, wait until the printer is idle and silent.
- Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
Open the cartridge access door or lid.
- Remove the ink cartridges of the printer.
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord into the outlet.
NOTE: HP then recommends reconnecting the printer's power cord directly into a wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically make it.It is possible that the printer goes through a warm-up cycle. It is also possible that the printer lights blink and the carriage moves.
- Wait until the preheat cycle and until the printer is idle and silent before continuing.
- Reinsert the ink cartridges in the printer, then close the cartridge access door or lid.
- Follow the steps to align the printer, if prompted.
- If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the back of the product.
- Try to print.
Please update the printer's firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer.
If the issue continues, please follow the instructions in the HP video below to manually clean the Printhead of the printer.
The HP 4 cartridge print head part number is CN643A or the HP 5 cartridge print head is CN642A for your printer.
Refer to the HP document: Replacing the Printhead for HP Photosmart Plus for replacing the printer printhead.
