HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Hello! Just received a hand-me-down Laserjet P1102w from a friend of mine. I live in a college dorm and have not had any luck connecting to our college wifi, so I have been using the printer USB based to my macbook air running Montery. I am able to print images and single paged documents just fine, but when I try to print PDFS or multi paged documents, the printer does not work. It says that the pages are printing on the printing window, but the physical printer does not do anything. It does however blink green as though it thinks it's printing.

I have tried everything under the sun to get this thing to work. I have reinstalled the driver several times (the driver was updated August 18th), plugged it back in, readded it to my printers, updated my computer to montery, tried printing the pdf as images, yadda yadda yadda. My patience is wearing thin....

If the answer is just wireless printing let me know, but also understand that I currently CANNOT connect to the wifi on the printer at all. My college's wifi doesn't even come up on the available networks through the HTML config. I've contacted my school's IT but that's another can of works all together. Partially because they refuse to answer my email. 🙄

I am a comic artist and was really looking forward to having an accessible printer to print out my linework. It's a let down that this isn't working, so I'd love to know if anyone has any advice. Let me know if you need any questions answered! Thanks so much in advance.

EDIT: Here's what happens -- it just stays at this forever until I delete the print. I've left it for about an hour just to see. And don't say that it's because the file is too big, I've tried two page pdfs!

Hi,

Please follow below version of HP Easy Start, as soon as it launches open the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software.

Follow the steps on screen and then click on Set Up New Device and follow the steps to reinstall the printer:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

As soon as HP Easy start prompts to install HP Smart, close HP Easy Start and press the Skip to Software Download button, then follow the steps on screen to complete the installation and check for any difference, this should install a printer driver which should overcome the described behavior.

For a wireless connection, may it is a 5GHz wireless connection? The printer only supports and see 2.4GHz wireless networks.

As well, may you have any browser access required to complete the network connection? It is also possible due an unsupported wireless security configuration, but any of theses  only relies on the network connection which you may not control.

Thank you for the quick reply, but after I uninstalled my HP Software and went to readd my printer, it said it couldn't find any software to download. I googled "HP Smart" and it doesn't seem to accept my printer.
