Newly installed HP Envy 5640 printer worked fine then print command on my Windows 10 pc says "no toner". However, printer has new cartridges which printer diagnostics say are fine. Changing cartridges has no effect. Connectivity is wireless and ok. Any ideas? Tx

Hello, @TDY – Hope you are well 🙂
Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
Going through your post, I see that your newly installed printer gives you “no toner” message while trying to print from your PC. To assist you with this issue, I need to know whether the printer can make a "Photocopy" or not.
Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.
If the copy comes out fine, try the steps below and check:
- Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.
- Restart your computer.
- Now click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/en5640/EN5640__Basicx64_1107.exe to download and install the printer drivers.
- In the connection type window, select “Wireless” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Restart both printer and PC and then try printing.
If the copy also fails, then try the solution 2 – solution 4 here: http://hp.care/2noA29X
Let me know if that helps!
Cheers 🙂
