HP officejet pro 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP officejet Pro 8600 prints PDF's in gibberish. I've reinstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader per what I've read to do on the web but that has not resolved the problem. Also my print & scan Doctor 5.2 just goes in a loop and doesn't take me to any kind of diagnostic help. I don't have a clue what to do from here. I have been on HP customer service support line for 1 hour and 19 minutes and am losing my mind listenting to the same hold message over and over again - HELP.

Hi! @BlackHawk7

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from the printer?

Have you tried printing from a different application? Does the issue persist?

If it is happening only while printing PDF. It sounds like an application specific issue. You need to contact Adobe support for more assistance.

However, you can try the steps recommended below before you can contact Adobe support.

First, open the PDF application click Help Scroll to and select Check for Updates

Open control panel on the PC.

Please click Devices and Printers

Double click on Adobe PDF

Please Click on Printer and select the Adobe PDF Settings Tab.

Uncheck the option "Rely on System Fonts only; do not use document fonts"

Click OK

Note: if "Rely on System Fonts only; do not use document fonts" option is already toggled off please toggle it on and click OK

Cancel the print job before performing a printer reset.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Control Panel.

  2. Under Hardware and Sound, click View devices and printers.

  3. Double-click the printer icon, and then double-click See What's Printing.

    The print queue opens.

  4. Click the print job you want to cancel, and then click Document.

  5. Click Cancel, and then click Yes to confirm the selection.

Reset the printer

Resetting the printer can often resolve printing issues.

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

    NOTE:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Try to print.

If the copy works fine, try uninstalling the printer software from the root level on the PC and install the full feature printer software. (Windows PC Only)

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.

Update the full feature printer software using this link. Click Here

Let me know if this helps!

Have a beautiful day ahead! 🙂
