Hi @astagno,

As I understand you are having an issue with your HP Photosmart printer is always ON. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you tried to perform a Hard reset on the printer?

Do you get any error message on the printer or on the computer screen?

In the meantime, let's try to perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If the issue persists, let's try to perform a restore factory defaults on the printer:

Step 1. Press the “Menu” button on the front console of your HP Photosmart printer.

Step 2. Press the Up and Down arrows on the console to find and select “Preferences.

  • If “Preferences” is not an available option, search for and select “Reset All Menu Settings,” or select “Tools,” followed by “Restore factory defaults.” The menu layout will vary depending on the model of your Photosmart printer.

Step 3. Highlight “Restore Defaults,” and select “OK. Your printer will restore its original factory settings, and inform you when the process is complete.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi @astagno,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I understand you are finding difficulty in resetting the printer to fhe factory settings. Don't worry I'll guide you through this,

Step 1. Press the “Menu” button on the front console of your HP Photosmart printer.

Now Click on Tools - Scroll down to Restore Factory Defaults - Click on Yes, to Restore Factory Defaults,

Your printer will restore its original factory settings, and inform you when the process is complete.

If the issue persists, I would suggest the next step would be to perform a Semi-full reset on the printer. I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.

Let me know if that helps. Thank you!
