Hi @HOPECW ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer is not printing from your Windows 11 laptop even with a direct connection, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check Connections:

    • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the laptop. Try a different USB port on your laptop if possible.
    • If using a network/wireless connection, ensure the printer is connected to the same network as your laptop.
  2. Restart Devices:

    • Power off your printer and unplug it for a few seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
    • Restart your laptop to reset any software issues.
  3. Printer Status:

    • Ensure there are no error messages on the printer's display panel.
    • Check that your printer is set as the default printer in Windows settings.
  4. Update Printer Drivers:

  5. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

    • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows, an automated tool to diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems.
  6. Check Print Queue:

    • Go to 'Devices and Printers' on your laptop, right-click your printer icon, and ensure there are no pending print jobs. Cancel all pending jobs and try printing again.
  7. Firmware Update:

    • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer and ensure it's up-to-date.
  8. Troubleshoot Network Issues (if applicable):

    • Ensure the printer is connected to the correct network if you're trying to print wirelessly.
    • Reset your router and reconnect the printer to the network.

Hope this helps resolve your issue.
