Microsoft Windows 11

I am receiving error code 0xb80005a8. The printer will not respond. The ink cartridges will not center when the lid is raised. I tried unplugging the power cord for 60 seconds. When I plugged it back in.   Can this be fixed?

Thank you for your time.

Hi @LN111

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That error code sounds frustrating!

Let’s go step by step to troubleshoot your HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer on Windows 11.

Step-by-Step Fix for Error Code 0xb80005a8

1. Power Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the wall.
  • Wait 2-3 minutes to allow the printer to fully discharge.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to clear residual charge.
  • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Turn the printer back on and check if the error persists.

2. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  • Open the printer lid and inspect the cartridge area.
  • Remove any loose paper or debris that might be blocking the cartridge movement.
  • Close the lid and restart the printer.

3. Manually Move the Ink Cartridges

  • If the cartridges don’t center, gently move them by hand to the middle.
  • If they are stuck, try removing and reinserting them carefully.

4. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Unplug the printer and hold down the power button for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power and turn it on.
  • If the error persists, try resetting the printer’s firmware.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit HP’s support page and download the latest firmware update for your printer.
  • Install the update and restart the printer.

6. Reset the Printing System on Windows 11

  • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click Remove Device.
  • Restart your computer and re-add the printer.
