Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Photosmart 7525 boots up normally but soon flashes "Printer Error."  No code indicated, just advising to turn off, then on.  Same thing happens after power comes back.  Have been able to print in short window of time before error message.  Diagnostic reports all normal.  Based on similar postings, (1) have reset to original settings; (2) unplugged after removing ink cartridges; (3) unplugged ad waited - error message comes back each time.

Hi @tomgilevich,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Photosmart 7525, which is encountering a persistent "Printer Error" message, even after performing some common troubleshooting steps. Here are a few more solutions to try:

Check for Paper Jams: Even if there is no visible jam, check the paper path, including the rear and under the printer, for any obstructions that might be causing an issue.

Re-seat the Ink Cartridges: Make sure the ink cartridges are seated correctly. Sometimes a cartridge not fully inserted can cause errors.

Clear the Print Queue:

  • Open "System Preferences" on your Mac, and go to "Printers & Scanners."
  • Select the HP Photosmart 7525 and click "Open Print Queue."
  • If there are any pending print jobs, cancel them to clear the queue and see if that helps.

Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Go to HP’s website and check if there is a firmware update available for your Photosmart 7525. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve issues like this.
  • You can also try updating or reinstalling the HP printer software and drivers to ensure everything is up to date.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the power source for 10-15 minutes.
  • While it is unplugged, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check the Power Supply: Sometimes a faulty or unstable power supply can cause intermittent errors. If possible, try using a different power cord or outlet.

Perform a System Diagnostics Check (via HP Utility on Mac): Using HP Utility with an HP printer (macOS)

  • Download and run the HP Utility software on your Mac to see if it can detect any internal issues beyond the diagnostics that were previously run.

No luck after trying all recommended steps.  Also cleaned the ink supply and contact points and tried different cartridges with no effect.  Status report normal and it can print for the minute or two while it's operating before an error code appears and then it shows "Printer Error" with all but main screen blinking.  The error code shows up VERY briefly - I think it's 05A654 but it flashes off so quickly I may have missed some digits after 05A.

I can’t find any additional information-just “Take care and have a nice day.”  Am I not looking at the right place?
