PRINTER IS FILLING IN WHITE BACKGROUND WITH COLOUR

i AM TRYING TO PRINT 11x17 CAPTURES OF NAUTICAL CAHRTS. THEY LOOK GOOD ON THE CAPTURED IMAGE BUT WHEN I PRINT THEM THEM THE WHITE REGIONS ARE FILLED IN WITH COLOUR

If you  "captured" the image as a .png file type, the background might shift color when printed -- blank areas should, of course, be "clear" when viewed on the screen.  Depending on the print software, the background might appear to be white or perhaps a light gray "checkered" pattern.

If the printer software / app is not interpreting the clear background correctly, the printed background can print (for example) as black.

Open the .png file in (for example) Windows Paint

Use File > Save-As and save the file as a .jpg file.

Test:

Rather than printing the entire file, print a small piece of the file on regular paper.

What else?

In every case of which I'm aware, printing at this size does require that you have the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software installed and in working order.

What if?

During the installation, if asked, select the "Full Driver" software.

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop.

 Note: 

Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.

What about the Printer Properties?

(Before printing) make sure the Printer Properties > Advanced > Driver is pointing to the HP software as opposed to a Windows / IPP driver.
