has anyone had this problem with the normal black? 913a

this is a placeholder with findings; as the topic has already two other closed threads

1. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/HP-PageWide-477dw-Printhead-black-problems-after-Level...

while marked solved, it is not.  It does provide some steps for recovery.  I also followed these steps, and the situation worsened as well.     1. clean print heads (youtube procedure with cleaning roller and physically cleaning heads), 2. advanced tap 21/23.

in the 2nd thread, user TheCabin329, mentions something that may be the key to the puzzle.  His problem occurred after installing the high capacity black cartridge.  This was my case as well.  I would also like to add that I replaced all of the cartridges at the same time, AND the 3 CMY colors all came from Malaysia, while the Black (K) came from Singapore.  They are from two different lots.  It may be that there is a problem with the chip, or that the large capacity has a bit of air.

Below are a progression of Print quality reports... what's interesting is that the black was missing a bit, a cleaning, and it began to be grey.  Wiping the heads, and cleaning the duplex / waste ink tray; gave some temporary relief in that the black became more black.  Then, it finally came in mostly, and I started to print, after about 20 pages then, the black began to drop out completely; it finally reached the point where it just isn't there.

I am now returning the cartridges and will try to get all of them from Malaysia... I am actually a bit reluctant to get the high capacity.

If others who have had this problem can feedback with their cartridge details, it could be helpful in solving this .

Next note to self:

Something that I found that may be of help, is that I didn't really wipe off much black when the door that you are supposed to drop after removing the rollers was down.  (I could clean the colored sensors that way) and got colors flowing.

HOWEVER, I did clean a lot of black when the door was closed, leading me to wonder if the black inkheads are separate or at least not really reachable, and if so, are not that accessible when the door is down.

This might point to why the colored lines get better, and the black drops out.
