HP M404dn is working fine with the exception that there is an error light (a blinking icon which represents a paper tray directly under the word Ready. This seems to indicate that the paper or the size is not set up right. I have looked at every available setting both using the printer via the display panel and the web interface. But, no matter what I do, it continues to show this error.
I had the exact same printer for two days and I received this error. Tech told me it was a hardware error after troubleshooting the issue for about five minutes and sent me a new printer. The new printer does the same thing. I do not think it is the printer or hardware just the settings and the sensors sensing the type of paper and the location of the paper isn't working.
Any help would be appreciated.

This model has no sensor for paper type, only for paper size based on time it takes for page to move through printer. All other paper size settings are manual, meaning you need to enter the size of paper when you load the paper tray. Can you provide better description or picture of the icon you are seeing please.

Thank you Repairatrooper,
Everything seems to be set to 8 1/2 by 11. The paper is in the tray correctly. Printers are finicky animals, but every printer I have ever set up has pretty much been plug and play as far as the paper and paper trays have been concerned.
