Recently the paper feeder began making a line on the copy one inch from the left edge of the paper. When you lift the paper feeder and place the original on the glass there is no line on the copy. I have looked at the paper feeder and cannot determine what is making the line. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hey there! @hubhorn, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand the paper feeder on your printer is making lines on a copy.
Don't worry I will try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Try the steps recommended below.
Lift up the top part of your Scanner you will notice 2 scanner glasses .
Look at the Small one on your Left-hand side.
Take Your Finger and carefully examine the glass.
You should find a Small Smudge on that Glass this is what could be causing the problem.
Take a Paper Towel and put either some Alcohol or Peroxide on the Paper Towel.
Rub that spot until it is gone.
Test your Printer by putting a copy through your Automatic Feeder.
Refer this article to further troubleshoot Copy Quality Issues.
Let me know how it goes!
Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

MrRobot, thank you for your help. I followed your recommendation and lifted the top part of the Scanner (where the paper feed is) and looked at the small scaner glass. I could not see a smudge on the glass, but I cleaned it real well with a paper towel anyway. Now it does not make a line when I use the paper feed to copy a document. I had been racking my brain trying to find out what was causing the line. Your recommendation fixed it. Thank you so much. It just occured to me yesterday to try to find a HP Support Forum. Joining this forum has already fixed my problem. "Kudo to you" Thanks again, hubhorn.
