Envy 5660

I have an envy 5660. I changed ink cartridges and trying to copy or print and I keep getting a message that states, "HP recommends ColorLok papers for best printing results"

I just printed on the same paper before changing the cartridges. Not sure why it won't use the paper I have.

@Tracyk12, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print due to this error.

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Remove the papers, reinsert them and close the tray.

You will get an option to set the right paper type on the printer screen.

While printing, check the print settings and make sure the paper type selected is plain paper.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@Tracyk12

If the error persists, let us perform a factory reset on the printer.

I have sent you a private message with a set of instructions to perform a reset. Kindly check the same, this might help you to resolve this issue. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Let me know how it goes.
