Did most of what [edit] discussed.  What finally worked was to close the paper jam error message and immediately tap the setup window.  The error message pops back up.   But doing this repeatedly got to the settings window.  Select printer settings, then select print.   This finally cleared the message and printed normally.   Hope this helps others.
