Hi,
first the information on the printer: it is an HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 with a second paper tray.
FW version: WMP1CN1919BR
No updates available.
We encountered several issues when copying documents. And today I found an issue with the configuration.
the main tray is set to hold photo paper.
The second tray is the widely used one with plain paper.
This second tray is set as a the default.
Every computer is set to use the second tray if not using "auto".
Now the following issues occur:
- Copying tries to use the main tray even is on the printers display the scond tray is set as default
- I can select "default tray = 2" but the next time it is back to tray 1
- Trying to set the default to the second tray using the EWS results in (pgCopyConfig-409)
Printer display shows:
Tray and paper settings: defualt = 2 , lock = 1,
tray management shows copy = 2, fax = 2, Fotos = 1
I leave the menu to home, come back and: copy = 1, fax = 2, photo = 2
photo paper is definitive in tray 1.
Look like there is a problem
I appreciate any idea on solving the issue
Regards

@elijahbailey, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Remove and reinstall the Tray 2. Refer to this document HP OfficeJet Pro 8700 Printers - Install the Second Paper Tray for help.
To print from Tray 2, follow steps on this document HP Officejet Pro 8700 Printers - Cannot Print from Tray 2 (Windows).

Thanks for your answer.
I did the following:
- switch off printer
- remove power cable
- remove second tray
- plugin power cable
- switch on printer
next
- switch off printer
- remove power cable
- check and clean contacts
- install second tray
- plugin power cable
- switch on printer
I still cannot select tray 2 for copying. It always switches back to tray 1 if I leave the setting menu.
Default tray as tray 2 seems to work fine.
