If you have not done so,

  • Download, save, and install the Full Feature Software for your Operating System
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

Select Media type (kind of paper) as (or similar to):

Brochure (glossy or matte depending on the type of label)

or

Index Card (certain standard sizes are supported -- see Specifications > Paper Handling)

Select Paper Size to match the size of the label sheet.

In general, label sheets are loaded into the printer Tray as you would load "photo" paper.  Depending on the model of the printer, in most cases (the Officejet Pro 8700 is an exception), the paper is loaded "print side" down and the "top" of the label sheet toward the back of the printer.

Select Source as Tray 1 (as opposed to leaving the setting as "Any", "Automatic", or similar)

Discussion - Sheet Size (Paper Size)

Many Avery label sheets (in the USA) come on "standard" 8.5x11 inch paper.

Your region may be different, for example, your "standard" paper (commonly used) may be A4.

Example of "Standard" size label sheets:

Avery® EcoFriendly File Folder Labels 48266, White, 2/3" x 3-7/16", Pack of 750

A few label sheets come on smaller "sheet" size.

Avery® Mini-Sheets® White File Folder Labels for Laser and Inkjet Printers 2181, 2/3" x 3-7/16", Pac...

As long as the sheet size is within the size requirements for the Printer AND if the printer supports Custom Paper Sizes, create a Custom Paper Size for the label sheet.

Tray 1  88.9 to 215 mm (3.5 to 8.5 inches) wide and 127 to 355 mm (5.0 to 14.0 inches) long
ADF      127 to 216 mm (5.0 to 8.5 inches) wide and 127 to 355 mm (5.0 to 14.0 inches) long

Hint:  Start with a standard form size of the same type of paper as the intended "custom form".  For example, when creating a Custom "photo" form size, start with a standard size of "photo paper".

If your printer software supports Custom Paper Sizes, find the forum setup:

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >

Left-Click on your Printer one time to highlight >

Left-Click Print Server properties
